Top Lessons in Deciding on a Practice Management Course:: Lesson #3

If you are not a certified tax practitioner, you should be performing tax-related tasks. If you are not registered and lack the qualifications to handle financial matters, you should do so. Or, if you’re conducting business on the basis of a valid contract and you’re not an attorney or registered under the debt collection act, you can do that. I agree with each and every one of these points, but I believe we also live in a world where, for example, what are the qualifications of marketing professionals? What are the qualifications of managers, exactly? What credentials do operational personnel possess? And I think, you know, it’s always, it’s an intriguing topic for me. And it’s also interesting to consider, when looking at lectures, for example, when attending a lecture as part of an MBA programme, what are the qualifications of those lecturers? They previously managed multimillion-dollar businesses and have now decided to become lecturers. Thus, I believe that we live in a world where knowledge is available. My perspective on the world is that you should endeavour to get as much information as possible. You want to have as much experience as possible, as you stated, and then you can’t be on Route until you’re up-to-date from a legal and ethical standpoint. I mean, clearly, we’re dealing with healthcare professionals, so not just anyone can undertake occupational therapy-related work without the required qualifications, registration with hpcsa, practice number, and CPD points. It should go without saying that this is the case. Is this the case for a practice management course? Or a psychologist or nutritionist, i.e., any healthcare practitioner or these specialists. So while I was reading through the search results, one of the results was a Diploma in practice management. And, to the best of my knowledge, I’ve never seen one. Nevertheless, one of the first conferences or workshops I attended was a session hosted in Johannesburg by a large organisation that specialises in CPD-based training. And in that first cause, that are that I set into, was a cause on practise management. I thought, This is incredible. I cannot recall, but there were probably between forty and sixty practitioners in the room, ranging from psychologists to occupational therapists. And we discussed, well, I had to go, but you know, the issue was practice management. And they addressed many of the issues we are discussing presently.

But what I found most interesting were the business aspects of it, which we’ve never covered before. For example, we covered the topic of ethical considerations or ethics, we covered the topic of medical billing, but even when we got to medical billing, it was more about uncoding and how to use medical aid rates, so you don’t use medical aid rates and other such things. And when it came time to discuss finances and taxes, an accountant was present, and he provided an overview of, you know, what corporate structure you choose for your private practice. Nothing regarding what the tax compliance would be. How would you accomplish this? Or something similar. And in Iran, the legal matters are handled by an attorney. You do need contracts GDD to know whether you have a locum, for how long you can hire a locum, and when you have permanent employees, as well as the fact that you need to get all of your contracts in place to have these things, and you need to keep your contracts quite secure. And when I reflect on that, it was always my benchmark for determining if our practitioners are in a better position now in terms of practice management. In addition, I believe that each board has its own version of practice management. I believe there are usually underlying explanations for that. We have dealt with occupational therapists and physiotherapists. I have not seen anything from the psychologist, but I believe the podiatrists also have something. So, when I consider this, I wonder what qualifies you to discuss practice management and specifically a practice management course.
